BICAP – A Bio-Based Alternative to the ES-Cap Line
BICAP (Bio Innovation Cap) expands the BIOFUSE heat-shrink tubing portfolio and offers a bio-based alternative to the black ES-Cap line. The product provides the same functional properties and performance as the existing ES-Cap series, but significantly reduces the environmental footprint. BICAP is particularly well-suited for demanding applications in the automotive and industrial sectors.
Technical Properties
BICAP ensures excellent strain relief, electrical insulation, protection against liquid ingress, and high flame resistance. The cap reliably protects connections, even under high mechanical stress, such as that frequently encountered in automotive applications. The integrated hot-melt adhesive flows around the wire ends and connections, preventing the ingress of moisture and liquids, thereby avoiding corrosion and mechanical damage.
The end caps also offer a high shrink ratio of 4:1, allowing just a few sizes to cover a wide range of wire diameters. BICAP remains highly flame-resistant even under extreme temperatures and extends the service life of the protected cables and connections at high ambient temperatures.
BICAP is suitable for all standard applications of the ES-Cap series. The products are UL-certified, comply with the strict consumer protection laws of the U.S. state of California (CA Prop 65 compliant), and are suitable for use in a wide temperature range from -40 °C to +125 °C.
Target Markets and Applications
BICAP is primarily aimed at the automotive industry as well as industrial and commercial transportation applications. Typical areas of use include end connections and complex multi-wire splices at cable ends.
