Lead-free connectors according to RoHS

News

Phoenix Contact offers a significant number of connectors in the M5 to M58 series. Due to the company's ongoing environmentally conscious orientation, it was decided at a very early stage to convert the connectors to a lead-free* variant.

Lead-free defines the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive of the European Parliament to the limit value of 0.1 percent. Lead is a toxic heavy metal that is used in manufacturing because of its easy formability and low melting point for processing.

In the meantime, Phoenix Contact has already converted a large number of connectors to lead-free*. A conversion to almost 100% of the product portfolio is planned by the end of 2022.

Due to this conversion, our customers already have the possibility to purchase electronic connectors according to the upcoming compliance requirements today
