Phoenix Contact is pleased to be part of the launch of the new North American Charging Standard (NACS). By the end of 2024, they will provide first-class NACS charging technology that offers customers the quality they are accustomed to. The AC charging cables for 50 A and 80 A as well as DC charging cables for 200 A will be available by then. Further DC charging cables for higher currents, including liquid-cooled variants, are planned for 2025. In parallel, Phoenix Contact is developing customized vehicle charging sockets for car manufacturers and, from 2026, universal vehicle charging sockets for commercial vehicles, mobile machinery and the transport sector in various performance classes.
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is a globally standardized fast charging system for heavy commercial vehicles with charging capacities of up to 3.75 MW. Since the establishment of the CharIN MCS task force in 2018, Phoenix Contact has been working on the definition of requirements and standards for the development of the MCS.
The aim is to bring MCS charging cables and MCS vehicle charging sockets to the market in the medium term in the usual high Phoenix Contact quality.
